AT A GLANCE

Local storage is edging up. Kaweah added 202 AF and Success added 56 AF in the reported day. Combined Banks and Jones pumping fell 15% from the previous day. Early-season snow readings remain provisional.

Delta pumping

Banks = State Water Project (SWP). Jones = Central Valley Project (CVP). Plant totals include all accounts. Pumping is separate from reservoir storage.

Watershed snow

❄
Snow on the ground, with water content beside it.

Cards show the range of nonnegative daily snow-depth readings at selected stations on Oct 24. Open a watershed for individual snow depths and raw snow water equivalent (SWE). These are point observations, not a basin average, snowfall total or runoff forecast.

EARLY SEASON
Quality check: Negative readings are excluded from depth ranges and retained in station details. SWE readings that exceed reported daily depth are flagged for review; differing observation times may contribute. No unverified basin-wide SWE total or percent of normal is inferred. San Luis is off-stream and receives Delta water; it has no comparable mountain snow basin of its own.

OFFICIAL AGENCY DATA

How to read this report

  • AF is acre-feet. TAF is 1,000 acre-feet. CFS is a flow rate in cubic feet per second.
  • Selected CVP storage sums Shasta, Trinity, Whiskeytown, Folsom, New Melones, Millerton and the federal share of San Luis. It is not total CVP system storage or water available for allocation.
  • Capacity and seasonal average use the CDEC reservoir summary consistently. Capacities can differ among agency reports and do not describe current flood-control space or operating limits. The San Luis account split uses USBR accounting.
  • Daily pumping is measured volume from USBR. Equivalent average CFS is calculated as AF ÷ 1.983471. Seven-day totals cover the latest seven consecutive reported days; month-to-date uses the month of the latest pumping observation.
  • Snow depth measures snow thickness. SWE measures the water held in the snow. Current raw sensors can have offsets; station flags are this report’s screening, not agency quality ratings.
  • Provisional snapshot. Read the dates at the top and beside each source. Weekly updates use the latest verified agency reports; delayed sources keep their original observation dates. Source links may show newer reports when opened later.
